We have a day to give thanks. To spend time with family and friends. To eat…and eat some more. To watch the parades and some football (or a lot!). To celebrate all that is good in life and all of our blessings.
Then we have a day to shop until we drop (Black Friday), a day to shop local (Small Business Saturday), and a day to shop online (Cyber Monday).
And now we have Giving Tuesday, a day to give back. It’s a global initiative to celebrate generosity as people all around the world look for ways to give back on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.
The Crossnore School has been challenged to raise $5,000 on Giving Tuesday. Let’s bring in the tens and twenties and fifties all on one day until we meet the goal. And when we do, a special Crossnore friend has agreed to match every donation, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000. That means we can raise $5,000 and watch it turn into $10,000! All in one day.
$5,000 – that’s only 100 people giving $50. You might think that’s a small amount and wonder how that would help provide for our children. But it’s not a small amount. $50 will provide a chance to learn to dance. It might purchase cleats or shin guards for a budding soccer star. It could even help a child learn discipline and respect through martial arts.
So you see, it’s really not a small amount at all.
