Foster Care and Adoptions: Changing generations

by

People often ask us how others can be foster parents. How can they take kids they don’t know into their homes? How can they ever say goodbye to a kid who has lived with them for a while? How can there be enough time in the day?

The truth is that parenting is hard work…and foster parenting is even harder. But you don’t have to do it alone.

At The Children’s Home, we have a dedicated team of professionals ready to help you start your fostering journey. From the application and licensing process to the on-going training…and even on to adoption, if you choose…you are never alone.

Recently, a new space was opened on The Children’s Home campus – a space just for our foster and adoptive families. Located in the basement of Stultz Cottage, the space is home to monthly Foster Care support group meetings. These required meetings offer important training, support, and fellowship for our foster parents. The training helps foster parents meet the required number of training hours each year for licensure and also helps parents stay up-to-date on the therapeutic models we use with our children. The support helps build community with the foster families. And the fellowship is just plain fun!

FosterCare&Adoptions

We are currently recruiting for more foster and adoptive parents. Whether you are single or married, whether both parents work or just one, whether you have kids of your own or not, you can be a foster parent. We are here to answer your questions, walk you through the process, and support you throughout the foster care journey.

There are so many children in need of loving and nurturing homes…both short-term and long-term. Fostering enables people to help change future generations and gives them the satisfaction of making a difference in a child’s life.
