Community Engagement

Community Involvement

Our goal is to enhance community involvement by fostering inclusivity and diversity while simultaneously increasing our impact and reach through the development of robust community partnerships.

At Crossnore Communities for Children, we believe that everyone has the power to make a difference. That’s why we’re committed to engaging people from all walks of life to join us in our mission.

Our promise to children and families experiencing crisis is to value and accept them wholly, then to devote our exceptional resources to addressing their needs at home, or when necessary, to finding alternative solutions for children and families at risk. Because an essential step in healing is to regain faith in home – to believe in love and a loving place.

This is why Crossnore gives so much to children who often feel connected to so little. We are here with love and strength, counseling and commitment, optimism and opportunity, and that’s just the start.

Whatever they need is what we give. Whatever they need is why we’re here.

Bless Children in Foster Care this Holiday Season

Hurricane Helene’s impact on the communities served by Crossnore cannot be overstated. The affected communities will be working to recover for many months. No matter the stage of recovery a family may be in, the holiday season will still come. We are partnering with other agencies and organizations to ensure that children in foster care in Western North Carolina (WNC) enjoy the holiday celebration they deserve.

You can help our recovery efforts by supporting theirs. We are asking our amazing supporters from around the nation to help us fulfill holiday wishes for the children we serve and the communities they come from. Asking for holiday gifts just a few weeks after a catastrophic weather event may seem strange, but consider this: These children have been through a once-in-a-lifetime disaster. Some have lost homes, family members, or have had to leave everything they know to find safety.

They deserve a magical holiday this year more than ever.

Below are ways you can help.

Shop Our Amazon Wish Lists.
This year, our Amazon wish lists look a little different. You will see three lists. Our Avery and Winston-Salem campus-based lists, as usual, have the specific gifts that each child in our campus-based residential program has asked for. The third list has a mix of items for specific children, as well as general gifts that can be shared with children in foster care in the communities affected by Hurricane Helene. Click the links below to access the list of your choice.

Shop a Complete Wishlist for a Child Served by Crossnore.
Children in Crossnore’s community-based foster care, Bridging Families, Clinical Services, and/or Prevention programs, as well as students attending Williams Academy, have created their own individual wishlists. We would love to share one (or many) of those with you.

Sponsor a Crossnore Giving Tree.
Have a group? Print out our pre-made gift item tags, distribute them, shop, and drop off (or ship) your items to one of our Crossnore locations by December 4th.

Host a Gift Card Drive.
We are able to use gift cards for any child served by Crossnore or in our larger foster care community. We recommend gift cards to Walmart, Amazon, Target, or a Visa card, ranging from $25-$200. *Note: It’s helpful if you write the amount on the gift card if not otherwise stated.*

Next Steps:
If you have any questions, or would like to confirm a time to drop off gifts or gift cards, please feel free to reach out to any of our team members. Thank you for supporting children in foster care in our communities. This holiday will be especially sweet because of you!
