Daniel Ambrose

A Florida native with a professional career spanning more than 25 years, the serene landscape paintings of Daniel Ambrose capture environmental treasures and are renowned for their extraordinary luminosity and power to evoke a sense of place. Ambrose paints and teaches in oils and egg tempera, a historic medium perfected by the Old Masters centuries ago. Making his own paint from a 15th-century Italian recipe using egg yolk and natural earth pigments, his technique incorporates weaving numerous translucent layers of paint into a tapestry of subtle hues.

Ambrose is a member of the American Society of Marine Artists whose work can be seen in galleries and museums along the East Coast. He is also a co-founder of the American Tonalist Society, which held its Inaugural Exhibition, Shades of Gray, at the historic Salmagundi Club in New York City in May 2019.
