Join us for a meeting of the Friends of the Thomas Trail!
If you love walking the Stuart and Emma Thomas Memorial Trail in Winston-Salem and want to help make it even better, join us for our trail maintenance workshop on December 7th, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Landscape architect Tony McGee, who designed and built the Stuart and Emma Thomas Memorial Trail, will guide trail maintenance and repair. Friends of the Trail will be available to guide walks on the trail.
Please meet at the Dr. CB Hauser Trailhead at (949 Gillete Street Winston-Salem) for a 1:00 pm start.
What to bring:
A friend: The more the merrier!
Water: Bring plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Tools: We have some tools, but if you have your own hoe, rake, hand saw, shovel, or clippers they are welcome! If you have a weed whacker you are comfortable using, they are helpful too.
Work gloves: We have extras if needed.
Backpack: A small pack to carry your gear and supplies.
Snacks: Keep your energy up with some snacks.
Grocery bags: Great for packing out trash and litter.
Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. We recommend sturdy shoes or boots, long pants, and layers to adjust to changing weather. No experience is necessary! We welcome volunteers of all skill levels. Guidance and training provided on site.
