Christmas is a time filled with joy, love and celebration, but the true essence of this season is so much more than presents and decorations. The real joy, love and reason to celebrate is found in the birth of Jesus Christ.
The Humble Beginning of Jesus
In the nativity story, we see how God chose a humble beginning for Jesus. Born in a manger to Mary and Joseph, Jesus came into the world not as a mighty king, but instead as child born in a dirty place to two unexpecting parents. He came to humanity in a way that shows that he understands the needs, joys and challenges of being a child from a tough place. This is a constant reminder that Christ is not distant or far removed from us—He is with us in every moment.
A Special Time for Children
For children, Christmas is a special time to learn about the love of Jesus and the significance of His birth. Jesus came to bring peace, hope and salvation to the world. In Matthew 19:14, Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” This verse is a constant reminder to us that children hold a special place in God’s hear and that they are an important part of His kingdom.
Focusing on Christ’s Love
As we celebrate Christmas, let’s focus on the love that Christ showed through His birth. It’s a love that continues to touch every heart and is a gift that we can share with each other, especially the children in our lives. By teaching them about the true meaning of Christmas, we help them understand that the best gift did not come wrapped in fancy paper with a shiny bow but instead wrapped in a manger in an old, dirty barn.
