What We Do

Crossnore Communities For Children is recognized as a national model For Trauma-Informed Care.

Our holistic approach allows us to care for and nurture each child’s mind, body, and spirit. On-site medical care, trauma-based therapy services, a wide variety of extracurricular enrichment activities, and educational services make us a unique place for children to live, learn, and grow.

COMMUNITIES OF HOPE AND HEALING

services overview

Crossnore brings clinical expertise and compassionate care to children and families through four interconnected resource communities, each with a specialized focus. Functioning as a responsive, trauma-sensitive continuum of care, these services offer help based on individual circumstances when and how it’s needed most.

Therapy Services

Assessing needs, offering counseling, evaluating progress
Therapy Services provides personalized therapy to children and families based on complete assessments to determine individual needs and appropriate plans of care.

Family Preservation

De-escalating frictions, building skills, preventing crisis
Homebuilders® Family Preservation provides in-home crisis intervention, counseling, and life skills education for families whose children are at imminent risk of being removed from the home.

Foster Care and Adoptions

Protecting from risk, providing a safe home, building trust
Bridging Families© helps birth parents and their children who are in foster care nurture and grow family relationships with the children who are in our care. We provide coaching and educational services to facilitate the gradual return of children to their home.

Foster Care & Adoptions provides a safe and stable home to children who are in the custody of the Department of Social Services. These children live in on-campus cottages with professional cottage parents or in community homes with licensed foster parents. These parents model healthy relationship-building and support children as they define and reach their own goals. Families who want to adopt are first licensed as foster families and then work with our adoption team to create a forever family for children who are eligible.

Foster Home Licensing & Training recruits and trains prospective foster parents who are then licensed by the state of North Carolina. Ongoing supervision and support are provided after placement of children into your home.

Project Safe Home works to identify children and youth in foster care who are at risk for commercial sexual exploitation and provides the necessary protections, guidance, and support to keep them safe.

Youth Independent Living

Continuing support, broadening perspective, establishing goals
Youth Independent Living supports young adults who are currently in or have aged out of the foster care system by offering age-appropriate assistance to build independence and self-sufficiency as they move into adulthood.
